We are stepping into a new season of spring fashion! This is the one of the most exciting times for fashion-lovers (your's truly included).
It's time to get ready for the latest fashion trends that you can expect to see on the runway and on the streets this season.
In-with-the-lighter-layers and out-with-heavy-outerwear, knits and boots.
We can finally start focusing on pieces in our closet that will carry us into spring and start creating our budget for the hottest styles to invest in this season.
I know, not everyone is excited for this wardrobe switch, but we all need to get dressed everyday during the spring season.
That's why I'm here to help you simplify your selection and choose the trends that work for you so you can dress confidently and feel empowered.
Below is a list of my 8 favorite spring trends for 2023:
Maxi Skirt Hemlines
It’s a new season and with that comes a new hem-line.
This spring is all about maxi-skirts and the longer hem-line proves to be the current preference.
The best part of this trend is that there are so many ways of styling the maxi-skirt (whether you are headed to the office or out for a formal event).
Style tip: Pair your maxi-skirt with a lightweight knit and your tall boots on the cooler days or pair your maxi with a structured blazer when you want to feel confident, empowered and on trend this spring.
2. Tailored Suiting
Now that most of us are returning to the office, spring's tailored suits trend is a must-have.
After all, nothing is more work appropriate than a tailored suit.
Suits are timeless, yet this season's version is sleek, simple and involves a clean-lined silhouette made of quality fabrics that will have you feeling powerful (whether you wear them to the office or on the weekend with sneakers).
Style tip: Make the most of your tailored suit by separating the pieces and wearing them in different ways: wear your blazer with a t-shirt, jeans and heels for a night out to dinner. Later, wear the trousers with a t-shirt, denim jacket and sneakers over the weekend!
3. Leather Any Way
A leather jacket has always been on trend for spring, however, this season's leather trend covers more than just your basic black moto jacket.
It extends to leather pants, shirts, skirts, dresses, blazers and coats (you name it, you will find it in leather and faux leather this season).
Leather pieces add visual interest to any outfit because of their luxe texture.
Anyone who has worked with me knows how much I love to add leather to any outfit for an unexpected twist to wardrobe basics!
Style Tip: Transform your 9-to-5 look by adding a leather blazer to your office wear. It's a great way to participate in this trend AND add interest to your basic suiting.
4. Metallic
Metallics are on trend for spring and this includes, not only your typical silver and gold, but also metallic blues, greens and purples.
Runways were full of metallics in pants, skirts, dresses and accessories.
Style Tip: If you are not into wearing metallics from head-to-toe, try this trend out in the form of eye catching accessories such as a metallic pair of shoes or purse.
5. Belts:
When in doubt, belt it! That’s the theme of spring 2023.
I’m sure all of you have a belt or two in your closet, so the best part about this trend is that you do not have to purchase something new, but rather, can use what you already have in your closet!
Style Tip: Try wearing your belt in different and unique ways, such as cinching-in the waist around your blazer. Remember to place your belt at your smallest area- which is usually right below the breastbone, and it define your waist and create an hourglass shape.
6. Off The Shoulder:
Designers are all about the collarbone this season.
Off the shoulder dresses and tops are all the rage.
Style Tip: Invest in a great bra so you can sport this look confidently all spring & summer!
7. Cargo
All things cargo are on trend this season. I'm talking pants, mini-skirts, maxi-skirts, utility shirts and jackets are everywhere for spring.
The more pockets, it seems, the more stylish the piece is this season!
Style Tip: Pair your cargo piece with something more fitted to balance out your silhouette. Or better yet, belt your cargos like some of the photos above!
8. Mary Janes
The last trend I’ll talk about for spring 2023 is a shoe trend.
Shoe’s are an easy way to add flare to your wardrobe basics and to participate in the current trends.
Style Tip: Don't save your Mary Jane's for the office, wear them casually with jeans and even shorts!
Remember to only participate in a trend if it represents YOU. After all, dressing fashionable is all about confidence and empowerment.
